Born May 29, 1928, in Independence, WV, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Ball) Shrader. Ken was retired from Townsend/Textron where he worked in the quality control department and was a member of the New Brighton United Methodist Church. He was a member of Union Lodge No. 259, New Brighton, and was currently a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason of the Valley of New Castle. He was also a member of the New Brighton Eagles and American Legion, Post No. 19.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death two brothers, William and James, and a nephew, James "Jimmy".
Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Betty (Tichnell) Shrader, whom he married March 23, 1949; two daughters and a son-in-law; Carol and Jim Dorwarth, Sarasota, FL; Deborah Rogers, Fort Collins, CO; five grandchildren and their spouses, Janyce and Jeff Duncan, Lisa and Michael Bender, Kenneth and Shauna Dorwarth, Johanna Lengyel, and Thaddeus "T. J." Lengyel; one nephew, William Shrader, and five greatgrandchildren.
Friends will be received Friday, October 14, 2011, from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. in the New Brighton United Methodist Church, 1033 6th Ave, New Brighton, PA15066. Pastor Rita Platt-Anderson, officiating.
Private interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA.
