BETHANY ECHO 3/13/1925

Samuel L. Alexander, son of James and Mary Alexander was born Jan.25,1871 in Jonathan Creek township,Moultrie county, Ill. When about 19 years old he moved to Lovington with his mother and had made Lovington his home until about six years ago when he moved to his present home near Bethany, where he died on Sunday March 8th.
He was married to Harriet Maxwell, July 7, 1905. To them one daughter Hazel was born and with her mother remain to bear the loss of the husband and father. He had two sisters who have preceded him in death and three brothers whose residences are unknown. His parents are also dead.
Mr.Alexander was a man of many sterling qualities, one of which was shown in the care of his mother. He was a home loving man never having been away from home but three nights during his married life except when he was helping to care for sick neighbors or in case of death.
For business matters he had the confidence of all men who dealt with him and his word was considered as good as his note. He was the kind of man that would be missed in any community and the kind the world needs more of.
