Mrs. F. A. Skluzacek, Prominent Lonsdale Farm Matron, Dies

Mrs. Frank A. Skluzacek, 64, well known Lonsdale farm matron, passed away at the Northfield hospital on Saturday morning, March 24, following a heart attack. She had been ill for over a year.

Mrs. Skluzacek was the former Christine Bastyr. She was born in New Prague on March 7, 1887. Her marriage to Frank A. Skluzacek took place in this city on November 15, 1910.

Following their marriage, the Skluzaceks moved to a farm near Lonsdale, where they had continued to reside since. They had twelve children, ten of whom survive. They are Mrs. Elwood Hooper (Mary) of Arlington, Va., Mrs. Oscar Schnell (Agnes) of New York City, Mrs. Donald Verette (Adeline) of San Francisco, Mrs. Jack Pesta (Marcie) of Montgomery, Mrs. Laurence Tuma (Henriette) of Minneapolis, Mrs. Joseph Hennelly (Dorothy) of Chicago, Robert Skluzacek of Northfield, Leonard Skluzacek of New Prague, Roland Skluzacek who resides on the farm at Lonsdale, and Richard Skluzacek, at Nazareth Hall, St. Paul. A daughter, Josephine died in 1918, and a son, Francis, died in 1919.
Besides her husband and her children, Mrs. Skluzacek is survived by twelve grandchildren, by three sisters, Mrs. J. B. Minar (Mary) of New Prague, Oblate Ludmilla Bastyr of Chicago, and Mrs. Agnes Kane of Chicago, and by three brothers, Joseph Bastyr of Chicago, and Frank and John Bastyr of New Prague. A sister, Mrs. George Proshek (Otillia) is deceased.

Funeral services were held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Lonsdale, on Tuesday morning, at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Charles Jirik offered the mass and pallbearers were Robert Bastyr, Frank Bastyr, Valentine Minar, Francis Skluzacek, William Skluzacek and Joseph Schatz, nephews of the deceased. Members of the Rosary Society of which Mrs. Skluzacek was a member, attended the services in a body.
Interment was in Calvary cemetery.

Relatives and friends from out of town who attended the services included Mrs Elwood Hooper of Arlington, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Hennelly, Mr. And Mrs. Joseph Bastyr, and Mrs. Agnes Kane of Chicago, Richard Skluzacek, Rev. Louis J. McCarthy, Rev. Thomas Conroy, Rev. Richard Moudry, Robert Bastyr, Harold VanCura, Alvin Simon and Sisters of St. Francis, from Nazareth Hall, Mr. and Mrs. John Jane and daughters of Prior Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Jacub Skluzacek, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Skluzacek, Mrs. And Mrs. Stanley Skluzacek, Mrs. And Mrs. John Skluzacek, Mr. and Mrs. James Minar, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Mahowald of Northfield, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Skluzacek of Faribault, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Tuma of Minneapolis and many others from New Prague, Le Center, and other surrounding communities.
