He was employed by the Delaware & Hudson Railroad with all eight of his sons.

ENDS 11 YEARS Willi RAILROAD - Pasquale Catone, of 15 Factory Street, veteran of 41 years of service with the Maintenance of Way Department of the Delaware and Hudson Railroad, yesterday retired from service after having been stationed on the Lake George Branch, at Bulwagga Bay in the Port Henry section of the Champlain Division, and in and near Fort Edward, N.Y.

A native of Italy, he came to the United States in 189C. Mr. Catone, the father of 18 children, 13 of whom are now living, entered the employ of the railroad company as a section hand on the local branch in 1897.

In 1905, he was named Foreman and transferred to duty on the Champlain Division at Bulwagga Bay and during this time experienced one of the most unusual occurrences of his career. On January 20th 1907, with the mercury at 30 below, he was patrolling the area when he found 19 broken rails, the steel having snapped in the extreme cold. He gave the alarm and summoned aid.

In 1909, he was transferred to Fort Edward, N.Y. as Foreman of the Fort Edward-Gansevoort section, one of the most difficult on the entire system due to Its clay base.

In 1926, he was awarded the first section prize given by the railroad. He is the holder of what is commonly known as a President's Pass, good for life on all sections of the road.

Six sons are now employed by the company, two as Foremen, two as Motor Car Operators, one as Fire Patrolman on the local branch and the sixth a Patrolman on the Fort Edward-Gansevoort section. The Foremen are Henry of Mechanicville, N.Y. and Joseph of Salem, N.Y., Nicholas and Anthony are Motor Car Operators and P. J. and Sylvester are Patrolmen. Mr. Catone, the first Foreman to be assigned a motor car on the Saratoga Division, replacing the old hand cars, held a thirteen- year safety record, only one other being held on the system,
