A funeral Mass will be held Thursday for Hubert "Hube" Francis Davis of 350 Prospect St., Sharon. He passed away at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001, in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 90.
Born July 30, 1911, in Sharon, Mr. Davis was a son of the late John and Sarah Murphy Davis.
Mr. Davis attended St. Joseph Parochial Grade School in Sharon and was a 1929 alumnus of Cathedral Prep High School in Erie. He earned his bachelor's degree from St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y., where he graduated magna cum laude in 1933. He was a member of the varsity football and basketball teams in both high school and college.
Hube retired in 1974 as supervisor of production at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he had been employed for 38 years.
A member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church and a former member of St. Joseph's Church, both Sharon, he was also an active member of Knights of Columbus Council 684 in Sharon, where he was a volunteer for a number of years for bingo games.
Mr. Davis enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
On June 29, 1932, he married the former Susanne Yarabenets in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Farrell. She preceded him in death Aug. 13, 1999.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lois T. Glover, Lexington, N.C.; and Mrs. John (Susanne S.) Short, Mercer; two sons, Hubert J. Davis, Ocala, Fla.; and Michael J. Davis, Beavercreek, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Glover.
