Robert S. (Bob) Ballou, 75, of Chantilly, formerly of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, October 20, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stewart Wayne Ballou and Willie Reed Ballou; brothers, Gerald Lee Ballou and Donald Wayne Ballou.
Mr. Ballou served in the US Navy in Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica. He pursued a career in Electrical Engineering; with this career he traveled the world.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen Ballou; son, Travis Kim Ballou; brother John Lewis Ballou; sisters, Mary Kathryn Ballou Brown and Jacqueline Ballou Hudson; stepchildren, Keith Kavanaugh and his wife, Michelle, Kelly Brock and her husband, Bart; four grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and other family members.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Oakey's North Chapel, with interment to follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakton Baptist Church of Chantilly, 14001 Sullyfield Circle, Chantilly VA 20151. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until service time at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
