An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on March 9, 1911 for John Hoots, a prominent resident of Findlay, stated that he had died on Tuesday of the previous week [Feb. 28, 1911]. He was born in Schuyler county and was age 64. Surviving were his widow, three children, Noble Hoots of Hirschfield, N. D.; Homer Hoots, Findlay and Mrs. Maud Lesher of Bethany. Also surviving were two brothers and three sisters, Andrew and W. S. Hoots of Cerro Gordo, Mrs. May Matthews, Mrs. Lucy and Allie Ledbetter of Hamilton, Mo. The funeral was held at the Christian church at Findlay and burial was in the White Cemetery.
