Charles Stephen Buchmiller was born October 28, 1883 in Helena Montana to Charles and Kathryn Seidenstricker Buchmiller. He attended schools in Helena and after graduating from high school Charles worked as a clerk for Sands Bros. He later worked as a traveling salesman known as a "drummer". In 1912 he went to work for the US Postal Service until his retirement. (Charles never owned a car nor learned to drive, he walked to work each day) On November 25, 1914 Charles and Emma Hullman were married in the German Lutheran Church of Helena. He and Emma raised three children in Helena. Charles was active in Fraternal organizations; Odd Fellows, Elks, and the Moose Lodge, of Helena as well as the state of Montana.
