Mrs. Carleton To Be Buried Thursday At 2:30

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday from the First Methodist Church for Mrs. Sarah J. Carleton, who died in the Twilight Nursing Home in Nixon at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The Rev. M. D. Lowry, pastor of the First Methodist church, and the Rev. George Schultz of the Wrightsboro Baptist Church will officiate at the service with burial to follow in the Woodman of the World cemetery under the direction of the Baker Funeral Home.
The body will remain at Baker's until 1 p.m. Thursday, after which it will be taken to the church for the seer ice.
Mrs. Carleton was born in Lavaca county on June 24, 1870, and had made her home in Gonzales county for some 75 years. Her parents were Dr. Philip Ezekiel Hudson and Henrietta Lester, natives of the United States.
A lifelong member of the Methodist church, she was married in 1899 to William Carleton, who preceded her in death in 1938.
Survivors include five sons, Wilson Carleton of Rising Star, Herbert Carleton of Cibolo, Harvey Carleton of Gonzales, W. L. Carleton of Sugar Land, the Rev. Paul Carleton of aqua ado; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Meneley of Stables, Mrs. Arthur (Willie) Blackwelder, Shiner, Mrs. Herbert (Dorothy) Miller, Houston, and Mrs. J. W. (Grace) Ke k, Gonzales.
Other survivors include 43 grandchildren; 93 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; one sister, Dr. H. C. Elkhart of Yorktown.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

SARAH JOSEPHINE HUDSON: Died of chronic myocardial degeneration due to chronic arteriosclerosis at 8 p.m. on May 7, 1968, at The Twilight Nursing Home in Nixon, Gonzales County, Texas, where she had resided for seven years. At the time of her death, she was listed as being a widowed housewife and was 97 years of age. She was listed as being born in Lavaca County, Texas, on June 24, 1870, and her parents were listed as Dr. Philip Ezekiel (Ezekiel Pleasant) Hudson and Henrietta Lester. Burial was in the Woodsmen of the World Cemetery in Gonzales, Texas, on May 9, 1968, by Doris Baker, Funeral Director, #4041. Informant: Mrs. Grace Keck (Daughter). Attending MD: Millington.
