She was given the name of M. Adela Alarid and lived in Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Las Cruces, Bernalillo, Taos, Santa Catalina (?) and Socorro. In 1879, sent by Mother Magdalen Hayden, she was a founding member of Socorro and in 1880, moved to Las Cruces. Sister Adela was partially paralyzed for a long time and was cared for by Marie Salazar, a retarded child under the care of the Sisters.
