Mrs. Minnie A. Gates
Mrs. W. A. Gates passed away suddenly at her home Saturday morning. She had been ill of flu a few days but thought to be improving and out of danger. Her death leaves Mr. Gates alone in the home. Minnie L. Gates was born at Detroit, Michigan Dec. 6, 1869 and died at her home in Clarks, Nebraska, Jan. 27, 1940 at the age of 70 years. During her youth she lived for a time in the Clarks community later in Central City. She was married to C. H. Buck of Omaha, February 12, 1894. They lived for many years in California. To them were born three children: Mrs. Eva Carnes of Englewood, Calif, Walter Buck of San Luis Obispo, Calif. and Phyllis Anderson, deceased. On the 18th day of December 1930, she was united in marriage to William A. Gates of Clarks and since that time has resided here. Surviving are her husband, William A. Gates, one son Walter Buck, one daughter, Mrs. Eva Carnes, one brother Frank Andrews of Englewood, Colo., and three sisters, Mrs. Jennie Gabler, Sparks, Nevada, Mrs. Eunice Kreeger and Mrs. Bessie Dixson of Omaha. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Church when friends and relatives paid tribute to the memory of Mrs. Gates.
