Robert was a seedman owner of forty acres of upland and five acres of meadows or marsh by the beginning of Buffums Corner well known in Salem and perpetuated to this day by the Proverbial expression. It is just one mile from Buffums Corner to Neck Gate.
Robert Buffum married first Margaret Blessing, died in England August 22, 1631.
Second, Thomasine Thompson, Nee Ward, died March 23,1688 at Salem Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Robert was the father of 17 children, 45 grandchildren, 114 great grandchildren, and over 264 great great grandchildren.
