Larena Marguerite "Renie" Beadell, age 100, a resident of rural Fort Scott, died early Saturday, October 29, 2011, at her home. She was born June 16, 1911, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the daughter of Jacob "J.W." Morton and Ethel Inez Orr Morton. She married William E. Beadell on September 9, 1929, at Nevada, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1970. She was a homemaker and enjoyed flowers, quilting, and sewing as well as collecting buttons.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Endicott and husband, Melvin, Bronson, Kansas and Lynn Cagle and husband, Gary, Owasso, Oklahoma; a brother Fred Morton, Waldron, Arkansas and a sister, Oma Miller, Wellington, Kansas. Also surviving are six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, David Morton and Clifford Morton and two sisters, Latisha Frazier and Barbara Ada McGarrah.
Retta Smith will conduct funeral services at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday the Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. Wednesday until service time at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, Fort Scott.
