Son of the late Elis Yancey, Sr. and Dora Woods, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William Yancey and Ellis Yancey, Jr.; three sisters, Martha McLawhorn, Mary Hildebrand and Ethel Baxter; and two brothers-in-law, Albert Jordan and Fred Ramsey. He was survived by his wife, Ruth Jordan Yancey; sons, Tracy Yancey (Maureen "Mo" Schwind) and Sandy Yancey; a brother, Marvin Yancey (Lois); granddaughter, Nikki); brothers-in-law, Ralph Jordan, Paul Jordan and Larry Jordan (Robyn); sisters-in-law, Nancy Jordan, Ruby Ramsey and Frances Stroupe (James); and an extended family of relatives and friends. His graveside funeral was held on October 21, 2011, with The Rev. Todd McCullough officiating.
