Hattie F "Snow" Fowler was born Apr. 19, 1896 of John Jackson Snow and Rebecca Ellen "Graves" Snow, in Monroe County, Indiana. She was the 3rd child of a total of 6 children. The other 5 were all sons. When the 4th child, a son, Burgess Snow was born they were living in a little one room log house which stood off to the side of the old "Billy Carter Mill". This mill was on the Little Indian Creek in the newly formed community of Buena Vista. John Snow worked the mill along with Ezekiel Maxwell Linthicum who raised him from a very young age. Some years afterwards they moved to a farm that is called today "Snow Hill", south of Buena Vista on what is now called "South Snow Road". They bought the farm and built a new barn that is constructed with wooden pegs. The barn is still in good condition. They lived in the barn while they built a new house. They continued on the farm until they both died. Rebecca died in 1938 and John died in 1955.

The family was members of the Union Church formed in 1860. They continued in the Christen faith and attended church. Some participated as singers and speakers. Hattie joined the church Jan 3, 1912.

Hattie married Ivan Thomas Fowler November 12, 1914 in White County, IN. They lived in White County, Indiana when their only child, Delmer Henry was born Dec. 20, 1915. On Sep. 23, 1930 he died at the age of 14 of peritonitis 4 days after surgery for a ruptured appendix. He was a freshman at Smithville High School, Monroe County, Indiana.

Hattie was a wonderful aunt to seven nieces and eight nephews of the "Snow Family". At some time after Delmer died, they moved away from south Monroe County to Bloomington, Indiana. Hattie went to work at the "Schmaltz Department Store" on North Walnut St. That was where we as children of Burgess Snow got most of our clothing. Aunt Hattie was a great help on getting the best bargains. Sometime she would buy us cloths. She was always a happy, loving person and it was a joy for us to go to her house or for her to come to visit us. She was a great help when Grandpa Snow became bedfast and our mother, Florence Snow took care of him. We all loved her dearly and deeply miss her now.
