Walt Talmadge Mullenix, 76, husband of Joyce Cordell Mullenix, died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at his home in the presence of his family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Elbert County, he was a son of the late James Seaborn and Eather Teasley Mullenix and was preceded in death by two brothers, Herbert and Charles Mullenix. He was a member of Winterville United Methodist Church and a longtime member of Asbestos Workers Local #48 of Atlanta.

Mr. Mullenix enjoyed working, traveling and Nascar racing. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 30, 2007, at 2PM Winterville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Winterville Cemetery.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three children, Eric Walt Mullenix of Maxeys, GA, Marlene and Max Blocker of Marietta, GA, and Kelly Cordell Mullenix of Dacula, GA; brother, Ralph Mullenix of Elberton, GA; sister-in-law, Betty Mullenix of Elberton, GA; three grandchildren, Ashley Blocker, Brandon Blocker and Brittany Blocker; a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Mullenix, Will Mullenix, Craig Smith, Billy Patton, Buddy Brantley and Kevin Brantley. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9PM at the funeral home.
