Death of Henry M. Dempster

Henry M. Dempster died Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.L. Warriner as the result of a stroke of paralysis sustained on Thursday of last week. He was a native of Ohio but came to Clark county about sixty years ago and has spent the greater part of the time here following the trade of blacksmith in this city for many years. Mr. Dempster was a prominent and consistent member of the M.E. church from young manhood. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Maggie Brennan who lives near Danville and Mrs. R.L. Warriner of this city.

The funeral took place yesterday afternoon from the home of Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Warriner. Burial in Marshall cemetery.

Henry Mendel Dempster died last Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert L. Warriner, at the age of nearly 76 years, as the result of a stroke.

Mr. Dempster was born in Zanesville, Ohio, May 1, 1834. He came to Illinois in 1852 and had since that date resided in Marshall for 58 years. He was married to Margaret Drake November 22, 1855. She died in 1901. Two daughters survive their parents, Mrs. Ada Brenner of Potomac, Illinois, and Mrs. R.L. Warriner of this city. There are 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He leaves a brother T.N. Dempster of Chaonia, Missouri and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Sears living west of Marshall and Mrs. Virginia Dempster of Washington. He was member of the Methodist Church in 1872.

The funeral services were held at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Warriner, Friday, conducted by Rev. A.W. Miles. Among those present at the funeral were Bertha Besler and Will Besler of Terre Haute, Will Philabaum and wife of West Terre Haute, Mrs. Charley Adams of Prairieton, Indiana, Mrs. Will Brennan and Mrs. Frank Brennan of Ellis, Illinois, Louis Drake of Paris, John H. Drake of Oliver and Frank Warriner of Mattoon.
