Robert Wear (ca 1715 - aft. 1789) was born about 1715 in County
An-trim in the north of Ireland, the son of Robert an d Martha
Weir. When Robert, Jr. was about two or three year s old his
parents left Ireland with a large group of Protestants bound
for Boston. They came to Haverhill in the Massachusetts Colony
where they heard about a beautiful tract of land about 15
miles northwest called Nutfield. This land turned out to be in
New Hampshire but they were able to buy it a nd settled, forming
the town of Londonderry. Here young Robert Wear (as his name
was later spelled) grew up. Sometime prior to 1740 young
Robert, with others from the Scotch Irish community in
Londerry, moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvani a, where they
settled along Neshaminy Creek. Among these was the Carrell
family which lived on the farm adjoining the Neshamin
Presbyterian Church. By 1740 Robert Weir had fallen in love
with and married Rebecca Carrell.
