Mrs. J T Walker (Martha Margaret) was a most talented writer, publishing a book "Reminiscences and Meandering Thoughts" in 1927 about her memories of her childhood and what she remembered about her ancestors as she 'recounted the past'. As Kirk researchers, her book was a great help in verifying ancestors. She gives clues to the wife of Samuel H. Kirk, her grandfather. Some have said that his wife was Mary Ann Lamb but there are indications that she may have been a Wilson. Samuel Wilson and wife, Anna lived near the authors family on the 1850 census of Marion County, TN and her cousin, Sarah Winn was living with the Wilsons. She writes that they called her Aunt Wizzie, being unable to say Wilson. The rest of her book is about family events and 'meandering thoughts'. She tells about her Mother, Mary Kirk Beene telling about her not being able to read a good book. Her grandparents were some of the first to settle the country and it took a while to get schools established. Martha Margaret had access to these schools.
