Lucy's great-grandfather was Col. Benjamin Harrison, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and she was a close relation to President William Henry Harrison and to Gen. Robert E. Lee.

She married George in Richmond on 20 November 1828. They had at least five children: William, Thomas Taylor, Lucy Harrison, and twins George and George Wythe, Jr. She died while or shortly after giving birth to the twins, and was buried in her mother's plot.
