The daughter of Cletus William German and Sarah "Esther" Calhoun, Agnes married (Living) Simon on 21 Jun 1958 in Calhoun County, Illinois. They were the parents of 4 children.
Agnes was a teacher for the Calhoun School District. She retired in 1999 after more than 30 years in the classroom.
She was a member of the first graduating class of Calhoun EMTs. She served on the Calhoun Board of Health for more than 20 years. She played a key roll in obtaining funds for the original medical center in Hardin.
She was a home adviser for Calhoun Extension. She also was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin, and was active in the church's Altar Society.
Agnes died at Jersey Community Hospital 9 days before her 67th birthday.
She was survived by her husband; 1 daughter and 1 son-in-law; 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law; 7 grandchildren; 1 brother and sister-in-law; and 1 sister and brother-in-law.
In addition to her mother and father, Agnes was preceded in death by 1 son Keith Simon.
Visitation was held on 13 Dec 2001 at the Hanks-Gubser Funeral Home in Hardin. A prayer service took place there at 5:30 p.m. that evening. A funeral Mass was conducted at 10:30 a.m. the following morning at St. Norbert's Catholic Church.
Agnes was buried next to her son, Keith, who passed away in 1981 at the age of 17.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the St. Norbert's Catholic School in Hardin.
