ROY ANDRIST, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Fred Andrist of Pine Island was born in Milton Township, Dodge County, Minnesota on August 15, 1896. He attended grade school in his neighborhood and worked at various jobs in and around this community, making Pine Island his home.
On December 22, 1932 he ws married to Louvina Costy and at the time of death they were living with Grandpa Edison north of Pine Island. His death came as a result of drowning on Saturday evening about 8 o'clock in Lake Pepin near Frontenac. Their boat capsized after an accident with another boat and both Andrist and Hoehne drowned. The third man was able to swim to shore.
Mr. Andrist is survived by his widow of Pine Island, a step-son Arthur living in Detroit, Michigan and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Andrist of Pine Island, five brothers, William of Portland, Oregon, Clarence, Fritz and Alfred of Dodge Center and Calvin of Pine Island, also one sister, Mrs. Floyd Weis, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held from the Mahler Funeral Chapel at 1:30 and the Methodist church at 2 pm, interment in the local cemetery.
