America Olive was born to William Gilliland/Margaret Thompson Conyers in Ripley County on Dec. 9, 1847. She married James F. Jarvis in Ripley County on Dec. 31, 1866. They moved to Illinois by 1870 and by 1880 were living in Neoga where they remained until America broke her hip shortly after 1930. They moved to Vincennes to live with her son Elmer.

She had at least two sons, Curtis and Frank Elmer.
