He has been in failing health for several years, and was taken to the hospital last week when he, his wife and his brother, Charles, all became too ill to remain at the home east of Clarinda.
The funeral services were planned for this Thursday afternoon at the Foster-Harmon Funeral home at 2:30 o'clock, and burial was in Clarinda cemetery. Rev J. Lester Greenwood, pastor of the Methodist church, was in charge of the service.
The Bailey's lived in Clarinda for several years after retiring from active farming, and Mr Bailey was carpenter. But they loved the farm and returned to the Pin Hook vicinity where they did truck farming.
Mr and Mrs Vernon Wilfley of St Louis, Mo, came Wednesday to be with Vernon's aunt, Mrs Bailey for a visit. Mr Bailey was son of Douglas Bailey, an early auctioneer in this rural community. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Feb 1, 1951
