LA CROSSE, Wis., July 19, -- William C. Allen of St. Paul, chairman of the grievance committee of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, fell dead at 10 o'clock Sunday evening, while sitting on a bench in front of the Foley hotel in Mill Street. Dr. George W. Lueck said that heart trouble was the cause.
Allen came here on train No. 2 on the Milwaukee road from Red Wing, as a passenger. He had attended a ball game during the afternoon and may have been affected by the heat. Upon his arrival here shortly after 8 o'clock he was apparently in good health. He was 33 years of age.
