A SAD BEREAVEMENT

Mrs. G. F. Maiers, formerly of this city died at St. Francis' hospital, Santa Barbara, Monday night January 30th. Funeral services were held at the Grace M.E. church, Wednesday, Rev. Chas. F. Coy of Goleta, her late residence, officiating. The loving hands of her Eastern Star sisters paid her a tribute of beautiful flowers covering the alter and casket.

She is mourned by many friends who knew and loved her for her estimable character, and worth. She was the daughter of Col. and Mrs. William Jackson of Orange and was born in San Luis Obispo County. Besides her bereaved husband and parents she leaves two sisters Mr. Hattie Ross, teacher, and Mrs William H. Stafford of Santa Barbara, and four brothers, Grant, Robert, Fred and King Jackson formerly of Lompoc.

The services at the grave were conducted by the officers of the Marguarite Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and the solemn ritual was elaborate and impressive. A duet, "Waiting and Watching," was sung by Mrs. Lurson and Mrs. Clark and two other hymns were sung by the quartette, "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Rock of Ages."
