Frances Marie Thomas Vernon of Alexander City, AL, passed away Sept. 19, 2011 at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her parents, Carrie and Hugh Thomas; sisters, Dorothy Gilliland, Vivian Stephens and Juanita Walburn; brothers, Ted Thomas and Hugh Thomas, Jr.
She is survived by her brother, Wilburn (Joy) Thomas, Coosada, AL; her husband, Cleon B. Vernon, and her daughter, Janice Deerman of Birmingham; 2 granddaughters; 1 great-grandchild.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and she will be missed greatly by her family and many friends. She was a longtime member of Calvary Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed Square dancing, sewing and bowling.
Funeral services will be at Bass Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011. Burial will follow at Hillview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Heights Baptist Church in her memory.
