Donald Jones, 88, a resident of Yermo for 50 years, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003, at home. He was born Jan. 1, 1915, in Gunlock, Utah. Donald worked as a warehouseman at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Yermo for 34 years. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he held the office of High Priest. He also served as a Boy Scout leader. He served in the Army Air Corps for three years during World War II. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Jennifer Jones. He is survived by his wife Nevada Jones of Barstow; his sons Donald R. Jones of Yermo, Darrell E. Jones of Vidalia, Ga., Dennis L. Jones of Barstow, Michael D. Jones of Barstow, Ivan R. Jones of Barstow; daughters Alta M. Bray of Vidalia, Ga., and Neva L. Watkins of Phelan; and his sister Dessie McAllister of St. George, Utah. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Mead Mortuary Chapel, 36930 Irwin Road. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003, at noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2571 Barstow Road, Barstow. Family interment on Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003.
