In her younger years, she was very active in the church choir and served as the director of the choir for a number of years.

Ms. Butler was predeceased by her parents, Sydney and Anna DeBruyn Pounds. She is survived by numerous cousins.

A Rosary will be offered on her behalf at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, on Monday, March 30, beginning at 6:30 p.m., with family receiving friends after the Rosary.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the building fund at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1009 Stafford Ave., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
