Henry Giles, 70, Route 1, Knifley, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 1986, at 6:49 a.m. at the Westlake Cumberland Hospital after several months illness. He was the son of the late Thomas Franklin and Bessie Bottoms Giles of Adair County. Giles was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Holt Giles, on June 1, 1979. He is survived by his wife, Geneva Bryant Giles, Knifley. Also surviving are three step-children: Libby Hancock, Santa Fe, N.M., John Waggoner and Shelly Ann Waggoner, both of Knifley. Two brothers survive: Robert Giles, Campbellsville, and Kenneth Giles, Gettysburg, Penn., and two sisters: Irene Scott, Ortonville, Mich., and Cora Mae Rector, Winchester. Also surviving are three step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Giles was a Kentucky author and a veteran of World War II. Funeral was Friday, Oct. 3, at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Bro. Chester Bottoms officiated. Interment was in the Caldwell Chapel Cemetery, Knifley.
