Ernest Worth McCrary, 91, of Tifton died Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty. Rev. J Duggan will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mr. McCrary was born on April 2, 1918 in Gordon County and was the son of Elbert C. McCrary and Ada Thomas McCrary, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. He was a retired farmer from Goldkist and from 20 years with the Tift County School System as a bus driver. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served for two years aboard President Roosevelt's yacht. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty.
