THE LAMPASAS LEADER
FRIDAY, JUNE 28, 1907

A sad death is reported from the Nix neighborhood. C. Carver, of Bristow, Ellis county, came out here some weeks ago to spend time with his daughter, Mrs. Jim Richter, and last week went over to Burnet to see other relatives. Returning to his daughter's home near Nix, he was stricken with paralysis Friday and another stroke followed Saturday which caused his death. His son-in-law, Jim Richter, assisted by his brother G.F. Richter, and others took great pains in seeing that the old gentleman was properly cared for during his illness, death and burial, they having procured a nice casket in which the remains were interred. Mr. Carver was 82 years of age, had been a soldier in the Confederate army, and was a man of good standing in his community. He had been a wicked man up to about twelve years ago, when he became a christian and died in the faith.

In the obit of his first wife Sarah, it states that she was married just one year before her death in 1856. Therefore, the marriage date given by me could not be correct. It must be the date for a marriage to a subsequent wife and should be removed from this memorial. I don't have any information regarding his life and family other than what was in this obit.
