Martin grew to manhood in Scranton,PA. where he drove on the toe path of the Delevan and Erie canal. At age 18 he went to IL. where he served a two year apprenticeship as a cabinet maker after which he relocated to Rock County,WI. He worked with his brother Noah until 1861. On Oct.30,1861 he married Lucinda Rhinehart.They spent 27 years in Rock County after which time they relocated to Vernon County,WI. Martin spent his remaining years in Vernon County,Lucinda passing away August 12,1893.Martin married a second time to Parmila Arnold who passed away in 1923. Martin survived by his children Viola J.Bunts,John F.,Herman A.,and Elmer E. Setzer,Mary D. Maxson,Nora Bunts and one sister,Mrs Lydia Brossman of Naperville,IL.
