Joan (Vandiver) Robertson, 75, of Wichita and formerly of Coldwater, died Nov. 29, 2006, at the Catholic Care Center in Wichita.

She was born Feb. 7, 1931, the daughter of Celeste and Ellis Vandiver in Muskogee, Okla.

Growing up in Checotah, Okla., she attended public schools there, graduating as valedictorian of her senior class. She attended Oklahoma College for Women and Oklahoma State University before marriage to J.F. Robertson, Jr., in July 1950.

The family settled in Coldwater, where she taught piano lessons and worked for the Peoples State Bank for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Coldwater, serving several years as pianist for the church, and was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. The couple returned to Muskogee, and she continued in banking with Commercial Bank of Muskogee. She was pianist for the Memorial Christian Church in Muskogee. A year ago she moved to Wichita.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband J.F. Robertson, Jr., and infant son Jimmy.

She is survived by four children: Judy Robertson and Don Venhaus of Little Rock, Ark., Phyllis Robertson of Wichita, Stanley and Jackie Robertson of Greensburg, and Ellis and Kiran Robertson of Dallas, Tex.; three granddaughters Cami and Eli Cook of Dodge City, Victoria and Peyton Robertson of Dallas; and one great grandson, William Kolson Cook of Dodge City; two sisters, Shirlee and Fred Parman of Sarasota, Fla., and Lynne and Cliff Robertson of Wichita Falls, Tex.; a number of brothers and sister-in-laws, Shelby and Billie Robertson of Bixby, Okla., Thelma Branch of Tulsa, Okla., Ewin and Helen Robertson of Joplin, Mo., and Myridean and Everett Govier of Broken Bow, Neb., and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral was Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, at the Garrett-Smith Funeral Home in Checotah, Okla., with interment following in the Greenlawn Cemetery of Checotah.
