Memorial services for Wayne "Biddy" Atcheson Aderton, 91, of Lubbock will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ronald F. Wood officiating. Burial will be in City of Lubbock Cemetery at 10 a.m. under direction of Rix Funeral Directors. She died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, in Covenant Medical Center-Lakeside.

BIO:

Biddy was born June 20, 1908, in Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas. She was the 3rd of six children born to Frank and Bessie Atcheson (and the only girl). Her mother Bessie chose Biddy's actual first name in honor of the county in Ohio Bessie was born in.

The family moved to Graham in about 1915 (her paternal grandparents had moved there from Kaufman County in 1910). The family then moved on to Lubbock in 1925, with the goal that all of their children could eventually attend Texas Tech.

Biddy was a graduate of Lubbock High School and attended Texas Tech. She was employed by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal for several years. She married Marcus J. "Bud" Aderton on Jan. 4, 1936. He died Oct. 1, 1994. They founded Snook and Aderton Inc., and Combustion Service Company. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Women's Division of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.
