Harold Rayder
KNOX -- Harold Rayder, 73, of Knox, brother of Walter of Valparaiso, died Wednesday at his home.
Born in Whiting March 27, 1908, he was a former Porter County deputy sheriff and 50-year member of Masonic Lodge 137. His wife, the former Ethel Caryer whom he married in 1953, died in December 1980. He resided in Knox 19 years, moving from Valparaiso.
Other survivors are a daughter, Debbie Karras of South Bend; four grandchildren; and two stepsons, Kenneth Caryer of Florida and Gene Caryer of Fort Wayne.
Services 10 a.m. Saturday at Price Van Gilder Funeral Home; burial in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso; visitation 5 p.m. Friday; Masonic rites 8 p.m.
