LAKE ALFRED -- Mrs. Hattie P. Conner of Lake Alfred died at Winter Haven Hospital Saturday (Sept. 6, 2003) after suffering a stroke. She was 88.Born Oct. 24, 1914, in Jesup, Ga., she came here from Soperton, Ga., 49 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church, Lake Alfred.Mrs. Conner was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Conner. She is survived by her sons, Billy Conner, Winter Haven, Clifford Conner, Glenn Conner and Michael Conner, all of Lake Alfred, Hugh T. Conner, Tampa, James H. Conner, Blue Ridge, Ga., Roy E. Conner, Sarasota, and Wayne Conner, Auburndale; daughters, Betty Dukes, Winter Haven, and Gail Harrison, Lake Alfred; sister, Emily Boatwright, Dublin, Ga.; brother, J.A. Bridges, Atlanta, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Funeral Care, Winter Haven. Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
