Daughter of John Rinehart and Verla Fay Snook Rinehart.

Dot's mother died in 1918, leaving Dot motherless at age 5. She then lived with various relatives including her uncle, Frank Rinehart and grandparents T.A. and Lulu (Colton) Snook, spending the last years of her childhood with her maternal aunt, Katherine Reward (Snook)and Stacey Fenley, in Elkton, Oregon.

Dot married Norman Wallace Luke on August 6, 1931 in Elkton. Shortly thereafter, she and Norm moved to North Bend where they would spend the remainder of their lives. Dot and Norm, had one daughter, Lerona Faye and a son, Norman Richard Luke. Dot was the consummate wife and mother; a talented seamstress, creative cook and lover of the crocheted afghan. She and Norm enjoyed exploring the Pacific Northwest together, early dune-buggy adventures (in the 1930's) fishing and gardening. They also loved to entertain in the beautiful back yard of the home they had built together in Glasgow on the bay. Folks anxiously awaited the invitation to their back yard 'wing-dings' where they would be treated to a sumptuous feast, artfully presented and delicious!

Dortha was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, son N.Richard, and two grandsons. Her half-siblings, Ronald, Donald and Ellen Reward Whelpley also preceded her. At the time of her passing, she was survived by her daughter and son-in-law, six grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
