Emilie was the daughter of Rudolph and Wanda(Schimke). She liked to go to school and learned very rapidly. At age eleven, Emilie was in the fifth grade. She admired her teacher, Mrs. Blanch Harte, who also died in the bombing of the school, along with Emilie's brother, Robert. A total of 46 lives were lost in what is the worst act of terrorism on a school in the history of the United States.

Emilie now has a grave marker. It was purchased by the Seifert Family Foundation and was dedicated on Nov. 11, 2008, along with the marker that the foundation purchased for her brother, Robert.
