From May 12, 1959 interview of Purthenah Coe:

"Ezra Pinney was killed on New Year's Eve 1865. Had a dance at his home and _____ and a gang from down on Raccoon in Knox Township cam. Ez told 'em he didn't want any trouble (he didn't drink). Andy _____ came to the door and asked for Ez and then shot him dead, dropped the gun and took off, never was apprehended.
