Bath School Disaster Victim

Arnold was born in DeWitt Township, Clinton County, the son of Henry V. Bauerle and Hertha M. (Baske) Bauerle. He was a third grade student at Bath Consolidated School when it was bombed May 18, 1927 by a disgruntled employee. Arnold loved mathematics and playing baseball. He wanted to go to Lansing with his parents on the day he was killed, but he'd had whooping cough and had missed so much school that they thought he should go to school instead. His parents were in Lansing when they learned of the blast. He is survived by his parents; and siblings, Herbert and Esther. One of the 46 lives lost, this remains as the worst school violence in the history of the United States.
