Letter to father of James F. Bozeman

Colorado City, Texas, April 29. 1881
Col. M. Bozeman

Dear Sir:
It becomes my sad duty to inform you of the death of your son, Mr. J.F. Bozeman. Mr. B. was only sick eight days and his disease was pnemonis. He was quite sick from the first, and though he had good medical attention and was watched and nursed by relatives and friends, his illness grew from bad to worse, terminating fatally yesterday evening. He will be buried in the cemetery at this place this evening. Mr. Bozeman was the county judge of this (Mitchell) county. He was respected during life and his death is universally regretted. He was a useful citizen and stood fair as an honest and moral man. His family have all the help and sympathy in their trouble and bereavement that can be given by kind friends.

Mrs. Bozeman is in too much trouble to write at present, but will write to you in a few days and give you the particulars of Mr. Bozeman's sickness and death better than I have done. You and your family have my earnnest sympathy in your great trouble. Your son was an affectionate husband and a kind father, and he tried to be as moral and good as he could in this world and let us hope he has gone to a better one.

Respectfully
John Viser

In spite of the above letter, Family Members insist that James Frances died and is probably buried in or around Albany, Texas. They say he never fulfilled the job as County Judge of Mitchell County, Texas. While he had been appointed to that position, he never served and his name is not shown in any of the county records.
