August "Stump" Herman Pfannstiel was born on February 25, 1922 in Marion Texas to Alwin and Hilda Winkelmann Pfannstiel. He graduated from Marion High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and retired from Randolph Air Force Base Civil Service after 35 years. He proudly served as Mayor of Marion for eight years and as Marion's Fire Chief for several years. He was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church, a member of the American Legion H U Wood Post 245 and a former member of the Board of Directors for Hochheim Prairie Insurance. He served as past District President of the Guadalupe Fire and Fire Marshall Association of Texas. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Gloria Helmke Pfannstiel, his son Samuel (Sammy) Pfannstiel, and his parents.
