Obituary (Monrovia Journal 11/22/32) MRS. C.H. AINLEY PASSES SATURDAY AT MONROVIA HOME
Well Know and Active Worker in First Methodist Church For Many Years -
Mrs. Agnes May Ainley, widow of the late C.H.Ainley, and a well known and active member of the First Methodist church of this city, succumbed Saturday night at her home, 201 North Myrtle avenue, after an illness of about two weeks.
She was cheerful and had a pleasant word to all who visited her until the end came.
Mrs Ainley was a stauch Christian and a devoted member of the local church. She possessed many noble qualities, and took an intensive interest in welfare work in Monrovia.
Deceased was born in Haven, Iowa, May 1, 1869 and during her youth moved with her parents to Perry, Iowa where she was reared and educated. She marred at the age of eighteen years, and later moved with her husband and family to Des Moines, where they lived several years before coming to Monrovia in 1891.
Mrs. Ainley has been a member of the Methodist churcvh since her youth, and took an active interest in various branches of church work while a resident of Monrovia.
She is well known in the city and has a large circle of friends, not only in the Methodist church, but other churches of the city as well.
Deceased leaves to mourn their loss, Dr. Frank C. Ainley, of Los Angeles; Fred G. Ainley, of this city; Joseph T. Ainley, of Chicago; Ralph E. Ainley, Jr. of Woodlake; Rev. Charles H. Ainley, of Mexica City, Mex.; and Mrs. Hope Vanderhoff, of Woodlake, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Ainley, who died in this city, December 24, 1930.
Funeral services will be held at the First Methodist church tomorrow afternoon with Rev. Charles A. Kent, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Live Oak cemetery.

MONROVIA, Nov. 21 - Funeral services for Mrs. Agnes May Ainley, for a quarter century a leader in the work of the First Methodist Church here will be conducted in the church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, under direction of W.A. Temple. Mrs Ainley died Saturday at her home following a two week illness.
Born in Haven, Iowa, in 1869, Mrs. Ainley joined her husband, the late Charles H Ainley, in church work at Perry, and Des Moines, Iowa, coming to Monrovia in 1906. Her husband died in 1930.
She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Hope Vanderhoof. of Woodlake, and five sons, Fred G. Ainley, prominent local realtor and board member of the First Methodist Church; Dr. Frank C. Ainley of Los Angeles, Ralph G. Ainley of Woodlake, Joseph T. Ainley, musical production manager of N.B.C. studio at Chicago, and Rev. Charles H. Ainley, missionary at Mexico City.
Dr. Charles A. Kent, pastor of First Methodist Church, will officiate at the funeral services, and interment will be in Live Oak Cemetery.
