Naum Kelton was born in Warwick, MA in 1778.He came to Montpelier in the fall of 1798 ans spent the winter in the employ of Col. Jacob Davis. Then in the spring went to Schoharie, NY and spent 3 yrs teaching in the public schools. About 1800 returned to Montpelier and in 1809 Married Fanny Vincent the daughter of Dr. Phillip and Eunice. He taught school for 13 yrs (NY and VT). In 1810 was elected Deputy Sheriff and served for 6 yrs and served as Constable for the next 7 . He Represented Montpelier in the State Legislature 1816-8 and '20 and again in '29. He also held other offices. He was the father of 2 sons Samuel Stillman and Truman.
