MRS. JAMES LEWIS
Martha Virginia Hinchman was born in St. Joseph, MO. in 1852, and was married to James Lewis in Hiawatha in 1884. They made their home in Huron till 1893 when they moved to Horton. Mrs. Lewis died at their home on East Front Street in this city, Sunday, May 21, and her funeral was held at the M. E. church Tuesday at 2 p.m., Rev. Buckner delivering the sermon. The remains were laid to rest in the Horton cemetery. Three children survive her. They are Mrs. Walter McAfee, of St. Joseph, James Lewis, of Bellville and Ross Lewis at home. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Hinchman, at Everest, three sisters and three brothers. They are Mrs. Richmond and Hayes Hinchman, of Horton, Mrs. E. C. Moon, of Honolulu, Mrs. Morgan, of Chicago, Will Hinchman, of Everest, and R. L. Hinchman, of Severance. Deceased had been a member of the Methodist church for ten years and was a highly respected lady. The funeral was very large, as several relatives, neighbors and friends came in from surrounding towns to attend. Mrs. Lewis had been sick for a long time and she also leaves an invalid husband.
