Joseph B Crenshaw Services Monday
Joseph Byron Crenshaw, 78 of Pitts died Sunday Jan 27 1970 in Crisp County Hospital after a short illness. Born in Gwinnett County, he was the son of the late Howell Hight Crenshaw and Fannie Jane Pittman Crenshaw. He had resided in Wilcox County for 50 years, was a member of Union Baptist Church and former chairman of the Board of Deacons. Mr Crenshaw, a former Wilcox County Commissioner, was a retired farmer.
Survivors are his ife, Mrs Christine Baker of Pitts: five daughters, Mrs A L (Geraldine) Black, Mrs J W (Betty Jo) Mygrant and Mrs Cecil M (Janie) Collier, all of Cordele. Mrs Charles (Judy Florence) Clark of Chattanooga, TN and Mrs Nealon (Ruth) Murphy of Albany Ga. Five sons, William H Crensha, Carl B Crenshaw, Alvin T Crenshaw, and James Daniel Crenshaw all of Pitts Ga. Joe H Crenshaw of Cordele Ga. Two sisters,Mrs Johnny Livingston and Mrs Frank Johnson both of Pitts Ga. One brother, Dewey Crenshaw of Pitts Ga. 32 grand children and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday at Union Baptist Church. Rev Jack Dowdy, Rev Leroy Clack and Rev Charlie Stewart officiated.
Pallbeareres were Jelks Newsome,Ellis Newsome, Charlie A Sargent, C G Miller, Billy McBryant and Jack Warren. Honorary pallbearers were Odis Watson, Albert Conner, Harold Willingham, Rufus Faircloth, Arnall Watson, Melton Nobles and J S Davis.
Burial was in Union Cemetery.Frazier and Son Funeral Home, Abbeville was in charge of arrangements.
