John C Mansfield arrived in Lane County Oregon with his parents, James & Elizabeth (Champion) Mansfield, brothers, sister, wife, and children in late August of 1853. He took out a Oregon Donation Land Claim. By 1870, he is with his wife and youngest daughter Flora in Tillamook County, Oregon. On the 31st of December 1874, he died by a tree falling on him. The plaque at the cemetery has his name on it.
