I am adding this information as of March 2015 based on census information. She is on the U. S. Census of 1850, 1860, and 1880 as well as being on the New York State Census of 1855, 1865, and 1875. As an example: she was Ellen Alger, age 46, born in New York who was married to John Alger, age 49, born in New York. They are on the U. S. Census of 1860 at the 1st Ward of Hudson, New York with four children: Chas. H. Alger, age 14, Sarah Alger, age 12, Frank Alger, age 7, and Uceba (her name is different variations of this in other census information), age 4. That household is rounded out by Eliza Alger, age 54, who is probably a sister of John Alger, the head of household. In the New York State Censuses Ellen Alger is at Hudson, New York and in 1880 the U. S. Census says that her husband is a tinsmith and that he was born in New York and both his parents in New Jersey. For Ellen, it says that she was born in New York and that her father was born in Connecticut and mother in New York.
