She was born May 19, 1923, to Andrew Gustavus Hendrick and Pearl Jackson Hendrick in Marlin, Texas. She graduated from Marlin High School, received a Bachelor of Science from North Texas State, Magna Cum Laude, a Master of Science from University of New Mexico, and did postgraduate studies at the University of Texas. She taught at Junction High School, San Marcus High School and Southwest Texas University.
She lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for 30 years and served as president of the Albuquerque Little Theater Auxiliary, director of the Child Development Center at Kirtland Air Force Base for 20 years, and director of the Child Development Center in Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan, from 1985 to 1987. The following years, she consulted for childcare centers throughout the world.
She married Caddo Wright in 1987, at which time she moved to Lubbock. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Phi Upsilon Omicron, Trowel and Error Garden Club, Heritage Study Club, Lubbock Country Club, and several bridge and mah jongg groups.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Barry Borden and wife Jennifer of Charlotte, N.C., and Bob Borden and wife Maria of Santa Fe, N.M.; three grandchildren, Tracy Borden-Geor and husband Raphael Geor, Auckland, New Zealand, Myla Borden, and Peter Borden of Santa Fe, N.M.; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Geor and Shaymos Geor, Auckland, New Zealand; and her beloved sidekick, Precious.
